Beyond "Climategeddon" - from science education to solutions

Ad revenue.

"I guess one of my big questions is what is creating the media environment that enables fringe science to get equal or better air-time?"

If one could "follow the money" as Woodward & Bernstein did, from Koch Industries, ExxonMobil, Chevron-Texaco, et al, to the behind-the-scenes processes to decide who gets air time as "climate experts," then I think Eric Holder would have an open-and-shut racketeering case. Greenpeace has already done about half the research for that case.

In my opinion, the Department of Justice should take it from there, and get to work on the other half, the behind-the-scenes decisions, immediately. With so much incriminating evidence already in the public record of conspiracy throughout the coal and petroleum industries to defraud the federal government of literally TENS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS PER YEAR (really hundreds of billions counting externalized damages, but tens of billions indisputably, according to Generally Accepted Accounting Practices), I'm very disappointed that the chief law enforcers of the land have not started issuing subpoenas.

It's like DoJ is unable to identify the obvious intent of that disinformation, which is to undermine support for fact-based policies that would decrease largess to those industries. That's intent to obtain wealth under false pretense. That's the textbook definition of fraud. And they're obviously working together, which is the textbook definition of conspiracy, which is a felony.
